Customs and Border Protection seeks Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) to join a large federal law enforcement workforce. The role involves patrolling borders, questioning entrants, and inspecting documentation to enforce immigration and customs laws.

Positions at GL-5 to GS-11 levels offer competitive base pay, generous leave, health and retirement benefits, and recruitment incentives up to $20,000 plus potential further retention incentives.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating leadership, decision-making, and composure in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of general work experience and education may qualify.

Responsabilités

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents to determine admissibility.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented individuals and smugglers near borders using surveillance and patrols.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks as assigned.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using diverse assets to fulfill the mission.
