Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) to join a large federal law enforcement workforce. The role covers entry- to mid-level positions, offering base pay, benefits, and recruitment/retention incentives.

Duties include border surveillance, questioning individuals, and enforcing immigration and customs laws across diverse duty locations. Compensation varies by grade (GL-5 to GS-12) with potential bonuses and a strong benefits package including health and retirement

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance from various positions.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and evidence of illegal entry and contraband.
• Perform farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using government assets to fulfill the USBP mission.
