Qualifications

• Education requirements include a bachelor’s degree or completion of a four-year course of study; other routes include combination of experience and education.
• Experience in public safety, security, military police or law enforcement may qualify.
• GL-9/GS-11 level requires specialized experience in law enforcement tasks.

Responsibilities

• Detect individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents to determine eligibility.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night operations.
• Interpret tracks, evidence, and documents to determine violations and proceed with enforcement actions.
• Patrol borders and waterways using various government assets to fulfill CBP mission.
