Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper in Highland, IL to deliver precise bookkeeping, payroll and client service.

You will post transactions, reconcile accounts, generate statements and process payroll while supporting client retention and growth. The role requires 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and certifications from the National Bookkeeping Association or the ability to obtain them.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications or ability to obtain them.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
