H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver accurate bookkeeping, payroll and client service in Vandalia, IL. You will post transactions, reconcile accounts and generate financial statements while maintaining strong client relationships.

The role requires 1–3 years of experience, relevant certifications, and proficiency with Xero. You will handle 1099s/W-2s and help guide clients through tax-related tasks, all within our community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications or ability to obtain certifications.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP & procedures.
• Ability to interpret and apply complete instructions, policies and regulations.
• Ability to treat confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Analytical skills and an eye for details.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently.

Responsabilités

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
