Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper in Wisconsin to manage bookkeeping tasks, payroll processing, and client interactions. You will help generate accurate financial statements and tax documents while supporting client retention and growth initiatives.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience, familiarity with GAAP, and strong organizational skills. Xero experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications or ability to obtain them.
• 1–3 years bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP & procedures.
• Ability to interpret and apply complete instructions, policies, and regulations.
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
