Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver precise bookkeeping, payroll and client service in Fairbury, Nebraska. You will post transactions, reconcile accounts, generate financial statements and handle payroll with accuracy.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience, knowledge of GAAP, and a strong eye for detail. Xero experience is preferred, and certification opportunities are supported by the franchise.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and bookkeeping procedures.
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
• Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to multi-task independently.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications or ability to obtain them.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
