Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper in Wahpeton, ND to deliver accurate bookkeeping, payroll, and client service. You will enter financial transactions, reconcile accounts, and generate statements to support local businesses and individuals.

This role emphasizes attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of Xero is preferred, and prior bookkeeping certifications are valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications from the National Bookkeeping Association, or ability to obtain them.
• 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and procedures.
• Confidentiality and discretion in handling information.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Strong organization and time management; ability to multitask independently.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
