Qualifications

  • Associates degree preferred in business or finance.
  • Minimum of two (2) years hands-on bookkeeping experience, including at least one (1) year using QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data accurately.
  • Exceptional accuracy in data entry and financial recordkeeping.
  • Highly organized with proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Clear and professional communication, including email proficiency.

Job description

Position Summary

The Bookkeeper will assist the Finance Director by ensuring the organization’s financial records are accurate, timely, and compliant. This position is responsible for recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and maintaining precise QuickBooks ledgers. The Bookkeeper collaborates closely with all departments to guarantee proper classification of income and expenses in alignment with the approved budget.

This is a part-time (20 hours per week) non-exempt position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receive and review bills from all departments, verify proper approvals, and accurately post transactions to the appropriate expense accounts in QuickBooks (QB).
  • Verify approval for vendor bills and make disbursements according to payment type: prepare and issue checks, pay via credit card or by ACH; ensuring timely and accurate disbursement.
  • Generate and review weekly donation reports; accurately record cash and check receipts in designated tracking spreadsheets.
  • Prepare bank deposits and maintain detailed documentation for all transactions.
  • Accurately enter deposits, online payments, and other income types into QB, ensuring proper categorization and reconciliation.
  • Perform regular reconciliations for Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Petty Cash, and other accounts as instructed by the Finance Director, to maintain financial accuracy and integrity.
  • Reconcile various bank accounts and other month end duties as directed by Finance Director.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and accounting standards while maintaining organized records for audits and reporting.
  • Assist with other projects as needed to meet the financial requirements of PWH.
Qualifications
  • Education: Associates degree in a business or finance related field preferred
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of hands‑on bookkeeping experience, including at least one (1) year of demonstrated proficiency using QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data accurately
  • Exceptional accuracy in data entry and financial recordkeeping
  • Highly organized with proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently
  • Clear and professional communication skills both verbally and written, including email proficiency
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, and other financial software
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift up to 15lbs
  • Must be willing to assist with front desk responsibilities as needed
