Job Type: Full-Time

What You'll Do

As a Bone Density Technologist, you will be responsible for performing high-quality bone density (DEXA) examinations while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and exceptional image quality. You will work closely with physicians and clinical staff to support accurate diagnoses and deliver outstanding patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality bone density (DEXA) imaging according to physician orders and established clinical protocols.
  • Verify patient identity, review physician orders, and ensure examination accuracy prior to imaging.
  • Explain procedures to patients and position them appropriately to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
  • Safely assist patients with positioning, including those with limited mobility.
  • Operate and maintain bone density imaging equipment while following manufacturer guidelines.
  • Monitor equipment performance, coordinate routine maintenance, and ensure software updates are completed as scheduled.
  • Apply radiation safety standards and follow ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles at all times.
  • Work closely with radiologists and healthcare providers to ensure image quality and minimize repeat examinations.
  • Accurately document patient information and complete required imaging records within electronic software systems.
  • Maintain procedure logs, documentation, and imaging records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Follow infection prevention protocols, patient safety procedures, and pregnancy screening (10-Day Rule) guidelines.
  • Maintain adequate supplies needed for daily imaging procedures.
  • Support clinical accreditation requirements and assist with quality assurance initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
Qualifications
Required
  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology.
  • Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Bone Density (DEXA) Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of radiographic positioning, patient care, and radiation safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an outpatient imaging center, physician practice, or hospital environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and radiology information systems (RIS).
  • Previous experience performing bone density (DEXA) examinations.
