Job summary

Southwest Medical Imaging, LTD in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking a Bone Densitometry Technologist to perform DEXA scans, position patients and ensure image quality per radiologist protocol.

You will protect patients and staff with proper radiation safety, document results, and support diagnostic evaluations. The role requires flexibility for locations and shifts.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Licensure or certification as MRTBE (CRT) and ARRT (R) with CPR preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and positions patient for Dexa procedures.
  • Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
  • Moves imaging equipment following radiologist protocols to produce detailed images.
  • Implements radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure.
  • Processes images and ensures proper identification and quality.
  • Maintains records, logs and reports of work performed.
  • Performs routine maintenance and arranges repairs as needed.
  • Flexible to work at multiple locations and across shifts.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

About the Role

The Bone Densitometry Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scans to assess bone density and support diagnostic evaluations. This role involves preparing and positioning patients, operating imaging equipment according to radiologist protocols, and ensuring accurate image processing and quality control.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares and positions patient for Dexa procedures.
  • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Moves imaging equipment into specific positions following the radiologist protocols and adjust equipment controls to produce images of proper detail, density and accuracy.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to “World Class Customer Service”.
  • Prepares images for Dexa Quality Control, radiologist and requesting physicians.
  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and arranges for repairs as needed.
  • Completes forms and maintains records, logs and reports of work performed.
  • Restores prior images and performs rate of change as needed per SMIL radiologist protocol.
  • Must be flexible to work at multiple locations and varied shifts.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
