Job summary

Downtown Boulder Partnership is seeking a Stationary Engineer / Boiler Operator to support safe, reliable operation of a steam plant and critical utility systems for healthcare and industrial facilities.

The role requires experience with gas-fired and electric boilers, HVAC, electrical systems, and water treatment. Candidates must follow strict safety procedures and coordinate with cross-functional teams to maintain uninterrupted services.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a healthcare environment or highly regulated industrial setting.
Knowledge of industrial HVAC systems, boilers (up to 5 MMBTU/hr), chillers, hydronic systems, and plant operations.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain steam plant equipment including gas-fired and electric boilers, air compressors, generators, pumps and motors.
Monitor, record, and interpret system performance using meters, gauges, and digital controls.
Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration systems.
Conduct boiler water treatment testing and apply chemical additives to sustain efficiency and protect integrity.
Respond to emergency service calls and document activities in operator logs.
Collaborate with facilities teams to ensure reliability and meet project timelines.
Follow OSHA and safety protocols including lockout/tagout.
