Job summary

Colonial Group seeks a Shift Operating Engineer for the Bellefield Boiler Plant in Pittsburgh to ensure safe boiler operation and oversee shift maintenance activities.

The role requires a Second Class Engineer’s license (NIULPE) or City of Pittsburgh license, 5+ years in high-pressure steam operations, and strong communication. Knowledge of Delta V BAS and MS Office is a plus; 16-hour shift availability may apply.

Qualifications

• High school education is required.
• Second Class Engineer’s license (NIULPE) or Class A City of Pittsburgh license, with steam distribution system experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience operating high-pressure steam systems.
• Working knowledge of MS Windows, Word and Excel.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of BAS systems Delta V is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs as directed; operate boiler plant safely on shift.
• Manage safe operations and report equipment problems.
• Conduct boiler water testing, chemical treatments, blowdown, polisher/softener tests.
• Place boilers, pumps, fans, and compressors into service.
• Lubricate equipment; check chemical tanks and inventory.
• Maintain the plant; perform inspections per EPA, OSHA, NFPA; lock-out/tag-out duties.
• Walk through Bellefield systems and create one-line diagrams.
