Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Utility Plant Operator 2 for Polk Center to lead plant operations and maintain reliable steam production. You will supervise shift staff, monitor equipment, and ensure safe working conditions while supporting secure operations at the facility.

The role requires leading firing procedures, making corrective adjustments and handling water chemistry, with overtime and on-site work as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as Utility Plant Operator 1 or equivalent in related plant systems.
• One year of semi-skilled work in operation or maintenance of utility plant systems.
• Equivalent mix of experience and training including six months in related systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead firing procedures for coal and gas boilers and direct daily plant staff tasks.
• Adjust pumps, boilers and related systems to maintain efficiency.
• Monitor gauges, temperatures, pressures and water levels; adjust equipment as needed.
• Test boiler water and apply chemicals to maintain controls.
• Respond to emergencies, record incidents, notify staff as needed.
• Operate ash removal systems and assist with cleaning for safety.
