Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Utility Plant Operator 2 to manage high‑pressure boiler systems and related plant equipment at Warren State Hospital. The role focuses on safe operation, maintenance, and repairs to keep hospital facilities running smoothly.

Responsibilities include boiler operation, water testing, equipment maintenance, emergency repairs, preventive care, and shift coverage on a rotating schedule. Some overtime and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience operating high-pressure boiler systems or utility plant equipment.
• Knowledge of water treatment and feedwater quality.
• Ability to repair/maintain pumps, motors, and steam traps.
• Ability to diagnose problems and perform emergency repairs.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance and keeping areas safe.
• Willingness to rotate shifts and cover 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and adjust high-pressure boilers and related systems for safe, efficient performance.
• Collect samples, perform chemical tests, and treat water to maintain feedwater quality.
• Repair, replace, and maintain pumps, motors, steam traps, and other plant equipment.
• Provide emergency repairs and corrective actions to maintain plant operations.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and keep plant areas clean and safe.
• Rotate shifts as required to ensure continuous, effective plant operations.
