Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. in Chaska, Minnesota is seeking a Boiler Operator to lead safe operation of boiler/refrigeration systems and coordinate department activities.

The role is a floater on a 6am-6pm 2-2-3 schedule, with night coverage when needed; primary dayshift, with standby during vacancies. You will respond to leaks, maintain equipment, work with SAP for maintenance, and ensure compliance with OSHA and Process Safety Management.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Three years strong industrial utility systems maintenance background in a manufacturing environment (food processing plant preferred).
• Ability to effectively communicate in basic English (both verbal and written).
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret varied instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform responsibilities per company SOPs, safety rules and regulatory guidelines.
• Respond to chemical leaks/spills and participate in the plant Emergency Response Team.
• Coordinate with equipment manufacturers/vendors and obtain needed parts.
• Work with refrigerants, chemicals, solvents, paints, fuels and lubricants safely.
• Ensure systems operate safely and comply with OSHA and safety programs.
• Maintain and monitor Process Safety Management program compliance.
• Perform preventive maintenance using SAP and follow maintenance plans.
• Operate boiler/refrigeration equipment, pumps, compressors, and electrical systems.
• Document maintenance and inspections per Mechanical Integrity Program.
• Train new hires and aid in safety, health, environment, and production SOPs.
