Job summary

General Mills is seeking a Boiler Operator for the JFB Technical Center in Golden Valley, MN. The role operates three high-pressure boilers, performs monitoring, testing, and routine maintenance during a 12-hour night shift (5:30pm–5:30am) with a 7-on/7-off schedule.

You will manage safety checks, data readouts, and back-up fuel systems. Qualified candidates hold Minnesota 1st Class B boiler operator license and can work independently in a noisy, hot environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold Minnesota 1st Class B boiler operator license and be able to work with automated and manual control systems.
• Ability to read gauges, meters and data from control systems and interpret readings.
• Able to lift up to 50–100 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and monitor the facility's three high pressure boilers through start-up, normal operation and shutdown.
• Conduct boiler monitoring, water testing and inventory management; notify supervisor of repairs or tune-ups.
• Monitor fire alarm and suppression systems; perform inspections to maintain readiness.
• Assist in training new employees and attend required meetings and trainings.
• Use Nuvolo to report and complete maintenance work orders.
