Job description

Since 2003, SA Hospitality Group has expanded to a selective group of iconic New York neighborhoods with its three brands: Sant Ambroeus, Casa Lever, Felice, with 24 restaurant locations in Manhattan, Southampton, NY, East Hampton, NY, Aspen, CO, Milan, Italy, and Palm Beach, FL.

Position Purpose: The pastry cook is responsible for following written instructions with precise measurements to create specialized products such as cakes and sponges.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes.
  • Decorate mousse cakes, glaze, prepare and decorate cakes and tarts.
  • Assist in planning and executing the dessert menu and cakes.
  • Test and taste recipes with the Executive Chef.
  • Develop new cake designs and recipes; maintain existing ones.
  • Use exact measurements and adhere to timing instructions.
  • Set time cycles for product preparation.
  • Utilize kitchen tools, including electric mixers, pans, rolling pins, and cutters.
  • Draft a list of products and ingredients for ordering.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Create and decorate cakes, showpieces, or centerpieces artistically.
  • Experiment with new flavors in collaboration with the Executive Chef.
  • Know safety procedures, including emergency shut-offs.
  • Wrap, label, and date all items appropriately.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, maintaining personal cleanliness.
  • Possess basic food handling, preparation, and cleaning skills.
  • Communicate effectively in English to ensure safety and teamwork.
  • Manage time efficiently and work under pressure during high-volume periods.
  • Engage in active listening and continuous learning.
  • Demonstrate reading and speaking comprehension skills.
  • Follow set standards with discipline.
  • Lift up to 30 lbs as needed.
