ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Position Summary:

The Cook I at [EWR] is responsible for delivering the OTG guest experience. The ability to prepare food to the correct temperature, portion, and plating specifications while maintaining a clean and sanitized area is critical to success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in OTG’s prep kitchens and/or on the line of OTG’s fast-casual concepts.
  • Support the back of house (BOH) by prepping ingredients for the lines.
  • Prepare food to the correct temperature, with proper portioning and consistent presentation according to OTG specifications.
  • Control the quality of all food items prepared to OTG standards.
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, broilers, slicers, steamers, kettles, etc.
  • Ensure personal appearance is clean and professional.
  • Develop positive working relationships and work towards guest satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be fully conversational in English.
  • 1-2 years of culinary experience in a fast-paced restaurant, demonstrating entry-level cooking skills such as prepping, grilling, frying, etc.
  • Must obtain ServSafe Certification or equivalent within 30 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of cooking procedures, safety, and sanitation.
  • Able to lift 35 lbs. or more.
  • Supportive team player with good communication skills.
  • Able to stand for extended periods, and capable of stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Flexible to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, holidays, and in bad weather.
