Base pay range

$25.00/hr - $27.00/hr

Purslane is seeking a dependable and experienced Head Cook to join our back-of-house team at Duck Island. You’ll be responsible for preparing and executing a seasonal, approachable menu with precision and consistency. This is a fast-paced, team-oriented role ideal for someone who takes pride in their craft and thrives in a clean, efficient kitchen.

Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate proficiency in navigating and managing purchasing, inventory, and cost control.
  • Lead by example on the line during service, ensuring quality and consistency in every dish.
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, inventory, and Department of Health preparedness.
  • Develop and mentor the BOH team, fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism.
  • Help keep food waste down to a minimum.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a lead line cook or similar role, preferably in a fine dining establishment.
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, including food preparation, inventory management, and guest service.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to problem-solve and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
