Job summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company, a leading Kenworth truck dealership, is seeking a Body Shop Manager to oversee the branch's Body Shop operations in Durham, NC. You will plan, direct, and control activities to drive growth and profitability while ensuring high standards of customer service and safety compliance.

The ideal candidate has extensive body shop experience, supervisory capability, and strong management and communication skills to coordinate with multiple departments and achieve company

Qualifications

• CDL preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of all phases of a body shop operation.
• Minimum of five years' experience in body shop related field.
• Previous supervisory experience required.
• Excellent management and communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and ability to collaborate with multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Assess present and future needs, trends, problems and profit opportunities of the Body Shop.
• Establish short and long-term operating and financial objectives for the Body Shop.
• Ensure policies and objectives are understood and applied within the department.
• Formulate annual/monthly sales/profit objectives and expense budget.
• Review results and take appropriate action to meet objectives.
• Maintain communication within and between departments.
• Promote safe work habits and ensure safety rules are followed.
• Sell customer repair and body shop labor and call on customers for repairs.
• Write estimates for wrecks locally and out of town as needed.
• Maintain service tools and equipment and ensure proper use.
• Review repair orders for completeness and alignment with estimates.
• Develop good relations with customers, adjusters, and insurance companies.

Job Overview & Essential Functions

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America's largest Kenworth truck Dealership and Leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, the Body Shop Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the branch's Body Shop in compliance with established policies and procedures. The manager will plan, direct, and control activities to ensure growth and profit objectives are met, formulate major objectives and specific plans, evaluate performance against objectives, and maintain the highest quality standards of professionalism in serving customers and identifying their needs.

• Assesses present and future needs, trends, problems and profit opportunities of the Body Shop.
• Establishes short and long-term operating and financial objectives for the Body Shop within the Company's overall plans and policies.
• Ensures that approved policies and objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied within the department.
• Formulates annual and monthly sales/profit objectives and expense budget in accordance with company objectives.
• Reviews and appraises the results of activities within the department and takes appropriate action as necessary.
• Maintains appropriate communication within and between all departments within the branch.
• Promotes safe work habits and ensures that safety rules are followed.
• Sells customer repair and body shop labor, directly calling on customers for their repair work.
• Writes estimates on all wrecks, locally and out of town, if necessary.
• Maintains company service tools and equipment and ensures proper use.
• Reviews all Body Shop repair orders to ensure completeness and alignment with the original estimate and any supplements.
• Develops good relations with customers, adjusters, and insurance companies.
