Job summary

U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in Washington, DC seeks a Board Liaison to be the primary facilitator and project manager for initiatives involving the USGBC and GBCI boards, executive team, and Governance staff.

This new role bridges the two boards and ensures governance operates at the highest level, working closely with Board Chairs, the CEO, and senior leadership. You will drive alignment on strategic work streams, support CEO evaluation processes with HR, and coordinate board director

Qualifications

• Experience supporting a board of directors or executive leadership committee, ideally in a complex nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
• Track record of managing complex, multi-work stream initiatives across affiliated entities.
• Strong governance knowledge including fiduciary duties and board boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary facilitator and project manager for board initiatives.
• Bridge work between USGBC and GBCI boards and governance staff to ensure alignment.
• Support board chairs and CEO in agenda setting and governance processes.
• Coordinate annual director evaluations and succession planning.
• Synthesize input from management and external sources to inform decisions.
