Job summary

U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) seeks a Board Liaison in Washington, DC, hybrid work arrangement. This senior role will bridge USGBC and GBCI boards, supporting governance excellence, strategic alignment, and executive oversight.

You will coordinate agendas, synthesize analyses, and drive board efficiency while working with senior leaders. The position requires 7+ years in board relations or related fields, a Bachelor's degree (MBA/ Governance degree preferred), and a strong nonprofit

Qualifications

• 7+ years of board relations, project management or senior advisory experience.
• Experience supporting a board of directors or executive leadership in a nonprofit or federation.
• Proven track record managing multi-work stream initiatives across related entities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary facilitator and project manager for initiatives involving USGBC and GBCI boards.
• Help align board chairs, CEO and governance teams across both entities.
• Set agendas, track progress, and flag delays to leadership.
• Synthesize analyses from management and external sources for fiduciary oversight.
• Coordinate CEO evaluation logistics with HR in line with policy frameworks.
• Provide communications, scheduling and logistics support as needed.
• Support board composition, succession planning and annual director reviews.
