Job summary

AMD in Seattle seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to own board-level mechanical design for next-gen AI and HPC platforms. You will define mechanical interfaces, ensure tight integration with electrical and thermal systems, and drive manufacturability across trays, enclosures, and rack interfaces.

Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical design of electronic assemblies, including PCB-based systems or similar high-density hardware.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, including structural support and component integration.
  • Experience with CAD tools for design and layout of mechanical features.

Responsibilities

  • Own the mechanical definition of complex PCB designs, including board outline, mounting constraints, and keep-out requirements.
  • Define and implement mechanical features for large, high-density boards, including stiffening strategies and support locations.
  • Work with system mechanical engineers to align board design with trays, enclosures, and rack interfaces.
  • Collaborate with thermal engineering to support cooling solutions and heat sink integration.
  • Co-develop layouts with electrical design to balance mechanical constraints with routing and packaging needs.
  • Coordinate with fabrication, assembly, and reliability teams to ensure manufacturability and reliability.
  • Support bring-up and validation by diagnosing mechanical integration issues in prototypes and production.
  • Contribute to board-level thermal design by addressing heat transfer and interface to cooling solutions.
