Job summary

AMD is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer (Server, GPU) for the Data Center Platform Engineering group. You will drive the mechanical design of high-power server and GPU platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, manufacturable solutions.

The role requires deep expertise in mechanical systems, strong leadership, and a track record of delivering complex hardware. Candidates should have experience in data center environments and a passion for advancing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred; Master’s degree desired.
  • Experience in mechanical design for server hardware and data center systems.
  • Exposure to optics and laser design is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design for advanced server and GPU platforms.
  • Develop detailed mechanical designs and prototypes; validate through simulation, analysis, and physical testing.
  • Collaborate with system architecture, board, validation, and manufacturing teams for cohesive development.
  • Represent AMD in technical reviews, customer engagements, and industry forums.
  • Provide consultative direction to senior leadership on mechanical strategy and trade-offs.
  • Mentor engineers and guide technical direction across teams.
  • Make critical decisions impacting multiple product families and go-to-market readiness.
