Job summary

Loyal Source Government Services seeks three full-time Board-Certified Nephrology Physicians to serve the Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV. Responsibilities include high-quality patient care, bedside consultations, and coordination with VA services.

Physicians will work a standard weekday schedule with on-call requirements evenings, weekends, and holidays. This 1099 role supports kidney disease management within the VA system.

Qualifications

• Must have BLS or ACLS from the American Heart Association.
• Shall have a current, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field.
• Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Nephrology or American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine.
• Must provide copy of current DEA certificate.
• Must provide a copy of health record.
• Must have Medical Liability Insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultative bedside services when the patient is ambulatory or in clinic setting.
• Follow all established medication policies and procedures.
• Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions coordinated with the next care setting.
• Attend staff meetings as required by facility leadership.
• Evaluate and manage AKI, CKD, ESKD, electrolyte disturbances, and hypertension.
• Manage nephrology patients including transplant care when applicable.
• Oversee extracorporeal treatments for poisonings and intoxications.
• Place central venous dialysis catheters and perform kidney biopsies as needed.

Job Summary

Nephrology Physicians must be efficient, motivated, focus on patient care with our Veteran population. Nephrology Physicians are expected to maintain a high degree of accurate productivity and performance while working with our VA community at the Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV. They’re required to deliver high-quality, compassionate, and consistent care to individuals.

$ 206.61 / hr

Duties

• Provide consultative services at the patient’s bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and, in the clinic, setting if the patient can report to the outpatient clinic.
• Follow all established medication policies and procedures.
• Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Nephrology clinical patients.
• Attend staff meetings as required by the facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee.
• Evaluate and manage:
• Acute kidney injury (AKI)
• Chronic kidney disease
• End stage kidney disease (ESKD)
• Fluid and electrolyte disorders
• Hypertension
• Nephrolithiasis
• Medical management of kidney transplant patients
• Evaluation and management of extracorporeal treatment for poisonings and intoxications.
• Management of AKI and ESKD includes :
• Prescription and medical oversight of the performance of kidney replacement therapy, including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, prolonged intermittent kidney replacement therapy and/or continuous kidney replacement therapy, including management of vascular access and procedural complications.
• Placement of central and femoral venous dialysis catheters and percutaneous kidney biopsy, unless otherwise provided by or separately contracted for by VA facility.

Qualifications

• Must have a BLS or ACLS from the American Heart Association
• Shall have a current, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.

Shift

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Required: Must be available on call when the facility clinic is closed, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Weeknight call: Weeknight on-call hours start at 4:30pm through 8am each night Monday through Thursday
• Weekend call: Weekend on-call hours start at Friday at 4:30pm and continue to Monday at 8:00am.
