Job summary

Waco ISD is seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide behavior analysis services and develop behavior intervention plans for students in special education. You will support and train administrators, teachers, and parents, conduct assessments, and collaborate with ARD committees to tailor programs across campuses.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree or higher, BCBA certification, and preferred Texas Special Education certification.

Primary Purpose

To provide behavior analysis services and behavior management plans for special education students enrolled in educational programs; provide support and professional learning to school site staff, para-educators, and parents/guardians in appropriate behavior intervention techniques; conduct assessments and develop plans that conform to IDEA, Texas law and regulations, and other applicable statutes and regulations.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Master’s Degree or higher
  • BCBA Certification
  • Certification in Special Education (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in intervention for students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required

Experience:

  • Experience with Functional Behavior Assessments, data collection to monitor and measure student growth, therapeutic intervention to support learning, and state-mandated reporting.
  • Minimum of one year Applied Behavior Analysis work experience, required
  • Experience with students with social, emotional and behavioral challenges
  • Two years special education teaching experience, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide BCBA services for students as needed
  • Develop material, training and provide resources for and give professional learning to administrators, educators, para-educators, and parents/guardians in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and/or other evidence-based methodologies related to addressing the needs of students with behavior difficulties
  • Plan and oversee the development and implementation of programs, policies, and best practices related to instruction
  • Create and assist District staff with the development and implementation of functional behavioral assessments for individual students
  • Manage and assist District staff with maladaptive behaviors, e.g., CPI
  • Implement and assist District staff with data collection, review, and modify treatment according to data
  • Communicate through checking voicemail and email regularly
  • Confer with members of the ARD Committee and district staff and other related team members, individually, at an ARD meeting, or in conference to exchange, discuss and evaluate student information for planning, and modifying, and coordination of treatment programs
  • Work and assist District staff with students who exhibit inappropriate behaviors and provide support and professional learning for staff who work with such students
  • Establish rapport and work constructively with staff, students, parents, and community members
  • Creatively solve problems and work through the conflict resolution process
  • Communicate effectively, in oral and written form
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices and laws governing behavioral supports for students with disabilities
Other Functions
  • Supervise BCBA candidates within district as appropriate
  • Collaborate with public and private agencies to offer programs that foster pro-social skills and prevent violent behavior for the purpose of providing services to strengthen families as well as students
  • Travel from school to school
  • Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); provide direction & guidance to colleagues; maintain emotional control under stress; establish effective relationships with and motivate colleagues; understand special education rules and regulations and apply this knowledge to procedures. Regular district-wide travel; occasional evening hours; moderate lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds).
