Job summary

Young World Physical Education in Marion, NC is seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst to provide school-based mental health services to students. You will work within the McDowell County School District's MTSS model to ensure compliance with legal and ethical guidelines.

The ideal candidate must have BCBA certification and relevant educational qualifications, along with a passion for supporting students in their learning and behavioral development. A temporary, grant-funded position is available with full benefits.

Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Starting Date: Immediately

Qualifications
  • Must be eligible for or currently licensed in good standing as a Behavior Analyst in North Carolina.
  • Must possess active Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
  • Must possess a valid license from the state of North Carolina to serve as a BCBA in an elementary or secondary school.
  • Must possess a Master’s degree related to the license.
  • Must have experience working in a school setting providing students with interventions, preferably within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) framework.
  • Must relate well to children and adults.
  • Must have knowledge of special education law (IDEA), positive behavior supports, and MTSS.
  • Must communicate effectively, demonstrate problem‑solving skills, and be able to work as a member of a team.
Performance Responsibilities
  • Provide school‑based mental health services to students within McDowell County School District in alignment with the district's MTSS model.
  • Ensure all services are consistent with FERPA, PPRA, IDEA, Section 504, ADA, and other applicable laws and professional ethical obligations.
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and design, implement, and monitor individualized behavior intervention plans.
  • Expand and/or refine services based on student needs and progress over time.
  • Implement positive behavior supports and provide direct, intensive behavioral services to students in both general and special education settings.
  • Collect and analyze behavioral data to monitor student progress and refine interventions.
  • Enter notes and information into the electronic health record system to assist with tracking SBMH services.
  • Maintain licensure by completing required continuing education and/or clinical supervision hours.
  • Participate in School‑Based Mental Health provider (SBMH) Professional Learning Communities and engage in relevant professional development.
  • Collaborate with school psychologists, special education teachers, administrators, and parents; participate in IEP meetings to support students with disabilities.
  • Provide ongoing support, training, and coaching to teachers and paraprofessionals on evidence‑based behavioral strategies.
  • Attend local, regional, and/or national conferences and meetings, such as the annual SMBH grantee meeting, as appropriate.
  • Locate and use community resources and collaborate with community agencies to meet student and family needs.
  • Promote positive relationships with families, schools, and the community; serve as a liaison.
  • Encourage regular school attendance and maintain safe, caring, drug‑free schools.
  • Empower and advocate for students and families; assist families with interpretation of school policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with support personnel within the school.
  • Assess school needs and implement appropriate programs, groups, and initiatives to target at‑risk populations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
