Job summary

Vitalant in Rapid City, SD is seeking a Hospital Distribution Technician to processing hospital blood orders and prepare blood products for procedures. The role supports patient care in a fast-paced, highly regulated healthcare environment.

Work hours are 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with an on-call rotation every 3rd week. Starting pay is $16.45–$17.15 per hour, based on experience, with benefits and 24/7 operations support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with clean record (except PA).
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to enter, review, and maintain information in computer systems.
• Ability to work weekends/holidays/evenings and on-call as needed.
• Lift up to 40-50 lbs and handle blood products and related supplies.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process and confirm routine and urgent blood product orders from hospitals and facilities.
• Select, verify, prepare, package and distribute blood products with high accuracy.
• Monitor, store, rotate and track blood product inventory and supplies.
• Use computer systems to process orders, document transactions, and manage inventory.
• Follow SOPs, safety guidelines, and temperature-control requirements in a regulated healthcare environment.
• Collaborate with drivers, hospital staff and teammates to manage priorities and deliver blood products.
