Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology with MT/MLS (ASCP) or equivalent, or a bio-science degree with post-degree clinical lab experience.
• MT/MLS certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Ongoing continuing education requirements and competent technical, interpersonal and cognitive skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Process blood components for transfusion, including receiving products and allocating for transfusions.
• Perform ABO/RH typing, crossmatching, antibody screening/identification.
• Handle phone inquiries regarding specimens, results, and product availability; maintain patient files and department supplies.
• Participate in quality control and general laboratory duties as assigned.
