Job summary

UP Health System-Marquette, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Donor Technician – Blood Bank to support hospital-based blood donation and transfusion services. This full-time role performs phlebotomy, maintains a safe work area, handles donor data, and supports inventory and quality control in a busy blood bank.

You'll join a team dedicated to patient care in a 222-bed community hospital with Level II Trauma Center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or substituted by experience.
• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification required or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy on donors at hospital or offsite.
• Maintains a safe, aseptic and organized work area.
• Handles donor data entry, phones and filing related to donors.
• Performs quality control and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Maintains supply inventory and supports donor recruitment as needed.

Donor Technician – Blood Bank – Hospital

Full Time PRN Varied Shifts

This position is a USW Union Role.

How You’ll Contribute

• Performs phlebotomy both on and offsite.
• Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
• Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, and filing related to donors.
• Performs quality control and corrective preventative maintenance on equipment, instruments, and products.
• Maintains supply inventory.
• Tele‑recruits donors as needed to maintain adequate blood supplies for daily activities at the hospital.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
• Licenses: Valid driver license.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS‑HCP); Minimum work experience: 6 months of phlebotomy experience (preferred).
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
