Job summary

UP Health System Marquette is seeking a Donor Technician-Blood Bank. The role is full-time with varied shifts and involves phlebotomy, clerical duties, and donor maintenance to support hospital blood supplies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience may substitute for education.
  • Valid driver license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification.
  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs phlebotomy on-site and off-site.
  • Keeps work area safe, aseptic, and organized.
  • Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, and donor filing.
  • Performs quality control and preventive maintenance on equipment and products.
  • Maintains supply inventory.
  • Tele-recruits donors to ensure adequate blood supplies.

How you'll contribute


  • Performs phlebotomy both on and offsite.

  • Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.

  • Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, and filing related to donors.

  • Performs quality control and corrective preventative maintenance on equipment, instruments, and products.

  • Maintains supply inventory.

  • Tele-recruits donors as needed to maintain adequate blood supplies for daily activities at the hospital.

What we're looking for


  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. *Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.

  • Licenses: Valid driver license

  • Certifications: Basic Life Support- Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
    Minimum Work Experience-6 months of phlebotomy experience (Preferred)

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
