Job summary

UP Health System Marquette, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Histology Technician for 1.0 FTE with varied shifts, on call and weekend rotation. The union position offers a $7,500 sign-on bonus for external eligible candidates and a mission-driven work environment focused on community health.

The role involves performing histology and cytology procedures, managing specimens, and ensuring quality control within a collaborative team at UP Health System Marquette.

Qualifications

  • ASCP certification or equivalent registry required.
  • Associate's degree required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs procedures/protocols in Cytology, Histology, and Pathology.
  • Receives and assigns accession numbers to tissue and fluid specimens and logs them into the AP computer system.
  • Processes curettings and routine TUR and bone marrow specimens; reports abnormal or suspicious specimens.
  • Prepares sections of body tissue specimens by fixation, decalcification, dehydration, and embedding for examination by a pathologist.
  • Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
  • Performs and monitors quality control, calibration, and maintenance on equipment and tests.
  • Participates in evaluating new techniques and instruments and developing new procedures.

How You\'ll Contribute
  • Performs procedures/ protocols in Cytology, Histology, and Pathology.
