Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a Specialist Technologist for the Blood Bank lab, overseeing the Stem Cell Processing Lab section. The role requires extensive leadership, supervision of staff, and ensuring compliance with QA, GMP, and regulatory standards.

You will apply both automated and manual testing methods, mentor students, and help develop new test methods while maintaining high accuracy and timely reporting for patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a chemical, physical or biological science.
• Minimum eight years of relevant laboratory tech and/or leadership experience.
• Technologist/Scientist/Specialist ASCP certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely performance of laboratory testing with minimal supervision.
• Participate in QA activities, QC review and documentation in LIS.
• Supervise staff, coordinate training, and assist in policy updates.
• Develop and implement new procedures in line with CAP/AABB/FACT standards.
• Ensure safety, proper specimen handling, and regulatory compliance.
• Support testing in the Stem Cell Processing Lab and mentor students.
