Job summary

Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC seeks a Medical Technologist for Blood Bank and Donor Center operations. You will perform transfusion medicine testing, resolve complex technical issues, and assist the Manager with day-to-day direction in Transfusion Medicine.

Strong attention to accuracy and safety is essential. Minimum education is a Bachelor's in Medical Technology with 3 years related experience and 1 year supervisory exposure; MT registry or eligibility required; SBB

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• Minimum 3 years related and progressive experience; 1 year supervisory experience required.
• MT Registry or eligible (ASCP) required; HEW certification acceptable.
• SBB certification preferred.
• Must pass CNMC Trustworthiness and Reliability assessment (fingerprinting).

Responsibilities

• Perform Blood Bank and Donor Center procedures per SOPs.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical problems.
• Assist Manager with technical direction and day-to-day operations of Transfusion Medicine.
• Maintain instrument calibration and preventive maintenance per regulatory guidelines.
• Contribute to quality assurance / quality control / variance reporting processes.
