Job summary

Battelle is seeking a Blast Research Engineer for a full-time, on-site role at Tyndall Air Force Base near Panama City, FL. This position supports RDT&E efforts in airfield protection and blast mitigation for the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center.

Responsibilities include designing experiments, leading technical projects, and analyzing blast effects across full-scale and reduced-scale tests. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Structural, Civil, or similar).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in research and development programs.
• U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design experimentation procedures for evaluation of test systems, including instrumentation setup and data collection from field testing.
• Develop test plans, experimentation protocols, and technology assessment studies, and lead technical projects from inception through completion.
• Apply engineering research and analysis to understand explosive blast effects and blast mitigation at various scales including modeling and testing.
• Perform RDT&E of moderate complexity by compiling technical specifications and analyzing data to develop solutions.
• Analyze and interpret data; prepare technical reports and deliver presentations to clients.
