Job summary

Battelle seeks a Blast and Ballistics Structural Research Engineer to work full-time on-site at Tyndall Air Force Base near Panama City, FL. This role supports RDT&E in airfield protection and protective structural systems against blast and ballistic threats.

Responsibilities include applying research, creating drawings, data analysis, and reporting to clients. Requires a Structural or Civil Engineering degree with 5–8 years of experience (or Master’s with 2–4 years) and US citizenship for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with 5–8 years of related experience.
• Master's degree in a related field with 2–4 years of experience or equivalent.
• US citizenship with ability to obtain security clearance.
• Proactive, self-starting work style and collaborative in a team environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering research to understand blast effects and mitigation across scales and via modeling/testing.
• Design and create engineering drawings for experiments and protective system development.
• Compile and evaluate design/test data, prepare specs, and analyze data for product specifications.
• Perform moderate-complexity RDT&E within schedule constraints.
• Analyze data and prepare technical reports and client presentations.
