Job summary

Courtyard Marriott Downtown El Paso is seeking a dedicated Cook I to join the Bistro team. You will prepare and cook items according to recipes, portion standards and safety procedures, ensuring freshness and proper temperature.

Responsibilities include following FIFO, maintaining clean workstation, communicating shortages, assisting with opening/closing duties, and collaborating with front desk and kitchen staff to deliver timely service.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking or restaurant experience preferred.
• Culinary education or food-service experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation.
• Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and hotel standards.
• Ensure food is prepared consistently, safely, and with attention to quality.
• Follow proper portion sizes, presentation, and plating standards.
• Ensure food is served at the proper temperature and within appropriate preparation times.
• Maintain proper food storage, labeling, dating, and rotation procedures.
• Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
• Monitor food quality throughout preparation and service.
• Maintain clean and organized workstations throughout the shift.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures.
• Monitor food temperatures and maintain temperature logs.
• Communicate shortages, equipment concerns, and other kitchen issues to the General Manager
• Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food products.
• Minimize food waste while maintaining quality and proper portions.
• Work with Bistro and Front Desk teams to provide timely service.
