Job summary

General Mills, Inc. in Kansas City is hiring for a Bisquick Packaging Technician to join a fast-paced manufacturing team. The role starts at $26.80 per hour with progressive pay increases and 8-hour shifts.

You will learn and operate Bisquick production equipment such as baggers, case packers and cartoners, perform quality checks, and help maintain documentation. Overtime, weekends and holidays may be required as the plant runs around the clock.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of machine operating experience.
• Ability to communicate with coworkers in English.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, push, pull and twist for extended periods.
• Willingness to work in hot, cold, noisy, wet, or dusty conditions.
• Ability to work around high-speed machinery and food allergens.
• Ability to wear PPE as required.

Responsibilities

• Learn and operate Bisquick production equipment including baggers, case packers and cartoners.
• Perform preventive and reactive maintenance support on Bisquick production equipment as needed.
• Conduct quality checks (HACCP, seal tests, weight tests, code dating, metal detectors, check weigher, code dater).
• Maintain written documentation.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance.
• Assist in training new employees.

Your Work Schedule and Shift Information

• 8-hour shifts
  • 1st shift: 7 am to 3 pm
  • 2nd shift: 3 pm to 11 pm
  • 3rd shift: 11 pm to 7 am
• Currently hiring for 2nd or 3rd shift
• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays as needed
• Plant operates 24 hours/day, 7 days/week

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

As part of our manufacturing team, you will:

• Be responsible for learning and operating all equipment within the Bisquick production process, including processing, packaging, and bulk ingredient unloading. Equipment includes baggers, case packers, and cartoners.
• Perform preventive and reactive maintenance activities within capabilities on Bisquick production equipment and assist maintenance as needed with higher-level tasks, including work order creation and defect identification.
• Perform all necessary quality checks of the products produced in the Bisquick department, including HACCP checks, seal tests, weight tests, code dating, metal detector, check weigher, in-line magnets, and code dater checks.
• Maintain written documentation.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance.
• Assist in training new employees

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 2 years of machine operating experience
• Must possess the ability to understand and effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and others in the workplace regarding work matters (our business is generally conducted in English)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, push, pull, and twist for extended periods
• Willingness to work in hot, cold, noisy, wet, or dusty conditions
• Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
• Ability to perform confined space entry in accordance with required safety procedures and training
• Ability to follow human and food safety, quality, and grooming standards
• Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment (Personal Protective Equipment - PPE), such as safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard/bump cap, hair/beard net, gloves, and face masks (when required)
• Ability to work around high-speed machinery and food allergens

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 2 years of mechanical and/or technical experience in manufacturing or related industry
• At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment
