Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Public Health is seeking a Program Manager to lead the SC Birth Defects Program within the Population Health Surveillance Section. You will oversee staff, coordinate data-use for prevention and research, and collaborate across the MCH Bureau to raise awareness of birth defects.

This role emphasizes strategy, supervision, grant writing, and external partnerships, with duties including grants, contracts, and serving as PI on existing grants; travel and emergencies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.
  • Master’s degree in public health or related field with supervisory experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong understanding of birth defects and public health systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead SC Birth Defects Program strategy and data surveillance.
  • Supervise staff; plan, schedule, and evaluate performance.
  • Develop grants, RFPs, contracts; provide technical assistance.
  • Serve as liaison to partners; act as PI on grants.
