Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a Senior Principal Scientist to lead the Discovery Acceleration Unit within the Biotherapeutics Discovery group in Ridgefield, CT. You will define and deliver innovative tools to support new therapeutic concept ideation and portfolio advancement.

This role leads an interdisciplinary team responsible for construct design, protein expression, purification, and characterization, guiding project teams and developing staff in a dynamic laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent with extensive industry experience in biotherapeutics.
• Demonstrated leadership of interdisciplinary teams.
• Experience designing and delivering molecular biology and protein science tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Discovery Acceleration Unit to design and deliver tools for therapeutic concept ideation.
• Oversee construct design, protein expression, purification, and characterization activities.
• Provide scientific and technical leadership to project teams and translate data into actionable plans.
• Propose and implement new R&D goals to strengthen discovery capabilities.
• Mentor and develop staff while maintaining compliant, safe laboratory operations.
