Boehringer Ingelheim in Ridgefield, CT seeks a Senior Principal Scientist to lead the Discovery Acceleration Unit within Biotherapeutics Discovery, driving new therapeutic concept ideation with innovative molecular biology tools.

You will oversee construct design, protein expression, purification and characterization, provide scientific leadership to cross‑functional teams, mentor staff, and ensure compliant, budget‑conscious delivery of multiple projects in a fast‑paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in biochemistry, protein chemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, structural biology, biophysics, or related discipline with 5+ years industry experience
• Leadership experience 4–6 years in projects
• Expertise in antibody engineering including design, construct generation, and developability optimization
• Hands-on experience in molecular biology, protein expression, purification, and characterization for antibodies or therapeutics
• Strong end-to-end protein production workflow knowledge from construct design to delivery for antibody discovery

Responsabilités

• Lead the Discovery Acceleration Unit to design, produce, and deliver molecular biology and protein science tools
• Oversee construct design, protein expression, purification, and characterization activities
• Provide scientific leadership to interdisciplinary project teams
• Propose and implement new R&D goals to strengthen discovery capabilities
• Develop experimental plans, prioritize multiple projects, interpret data, and translate findings into recommendations
• Communicate strategies and results to project teams and senior leadership
• Mentor, recruit, and develop scientific staff; foster a collaborative, safe lab environment
• Ensure compliance with regulations, SOPs, safety standards, and manage budget/resources
