Job summary

Confidential Client (via InterconnectedSearch) in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead monthly close, GL reconciliations, and SEC footnotes. This hybrid role requires collaboration with auditors and cross-functional partners in a fast-paced public company setting.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of accounting experience in a public company, Big 4 SEC exposure, and ERP proficiency (SAP/Oracle/Coupa), with strong Excel skills and AI awareness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred).
• 7+ years of relevant accounting experience in a public company environment.
• Combination of Big 4 (or equivalent) SEC client experience and industry experience strongly preferred.
• Biotech or life sciences experience is a plus.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Coupa.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience using AI-enabled tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini).

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly close activities for assigned GL accounts, including long-term debt, royalty monetization and embedded derivative liabilities, software capitalization (ASC 350-40), lease accounting (ASC 842).
• Prepare and post journal entries with complete supporting documentation.
• Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and fluctuation analyses.
• Maintain amortization schedules for leases and royalty-related liabilities.
• Review contracts and purchase orders for proper accounting treatment.
• Prepare rollforward schedules and support footnote disclosures for SEC filings (10-Q / 10-K).
• Coordinate with business units to manage accruals, prepayments, and resolve open items.
• Prepare audit and tax schedules and respond to PBC and follow-up requests.
• Execute and document SOX controls in compliance with internal control requirements.
• Collaborate with accounting team members to meet close and reporting deadlines.
• Drive process improvements, including the use of AI tools and automation.
• Support ad hoc projects to streamline close and accounting operations.
