Job summary

MSD is offering a scientific intern opportunity in its Vaccines and Advanced Biotechnologies Process R&D division. Under a project mentor, you will perform benchwork to execute, optimize, and troubleshoot downstream process unit operations and basic analytical techniques to support vaccine purification development.

You will develop new principles and methods for process development, scale-up to pilot and manufacturing scales, and technology transfer.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a BS/BA program in a relevant science/engineering field.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proven hands-on laboratory experience and accurate record-keeping.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Availability to work full-time for 10–12 weeks starting May/June 2027.

Responsibilities

• Perform benchwork to execute, optimize, and troubleshoot downstream process unit operations and basic analytical techniques.
• Contribute to development and scale-up of purification bioprocesses for vaccine production.
• Design, execute, and analyze process development experiments to maximize understanding of purification steps.
• Summarize and present experimental results to a collaborative team; support GMP campaign preparation when needed.
