Job summary

Kelly Engineering in Camarillo, CA, is seeking a Packaging Engineer for a 12-month contract. The role focuses on protecting sterile biotech products through improved primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging, with emphasis on material evaluation and testing.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in a packaging-related field and 4–6+ years of regulated packaging experience, including verification/testing and CAD proficiency (SolidWorks).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 4–6+ years of hands-on packaging and/or labeling design in regulated industries.
• Experience with packaging verification and validation testing and documentation.
• Working knowledge of ISTA, ASTM, TAPPI packaging testing standards.
• CAD proficiency with SolidWorks; GMP environment experience; knowledge of sustainable/automated packaging is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Investigate packaging damage, broken seals, and customer complaints.
• Design and improve primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging and labeling.
• Evaluate packaging materials for protection, performance, cost, and regulatory suitability.
• Plan and conduct package and label verification and validation testing.
• Work with suppliers on packaging materials, testing, and improvements.
• Support risk assessments, change control, and packaging documentation.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and Supply Chain.
