Job summary

APL seeks a Biophotonics Systems Engineer to join the Imaging Systems Group. You will contribute to the development and experimental efforts of biomedical and remote sensing systems from concept through deployment, applying best engineering practices to ensure quality and timely delivery.

You'll develop advanced algorithms and hardware for biophotonics, collaborate across disciplines, document technical contributions, and present findings at internal and external forums.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in optical engineering, optical science, electrical engineering, imaging science, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of professional or academic experience with optical or electronic hardware.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams; strong communication skills.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Secret/TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop biomedical and remote sensing systems from concept through full development life cycle.
  • Develop advanced algorithms and hardware for biophotonics applications.
  • Brainstorm and develop new biophotonics initiatives through R&D efforts.
  • Document contributions and present findings at internal/external forums.
