Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD, is seeking an engineer to contribute to imaging systems development, hardware, algorithms, and software for optical sensing and computer vision projects.

You will join a multidisciplinary Imaging Systems Group, collaborating across teams to design, test, and deploy imaging solutions, document findings, and present results within internal and external venues. A background in ECE/Optical Engineering is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering, Imaging Science, or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams; strong interpersonal, speaking, and technical writing skills.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Secret level security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and deploy imaging system hardware, algorithms, and/or software.
  • Assist in brainstorming and development of new imaging initiatives through IR&D efforts.
  • Capture technical contributions in memoranda/reports and present findings at internal/external forums.
  • Support field integration and testing activities of developed systems.
