Responsibilities

  • Provide support to faculty to conduct experiments, including tissue preparation, molecular biology procedures, microscopy, cell culture, data collection and analysis
  • Make solutions and reagents and dispose of biohazardous waste; perform general laboratory duties as requested
  • Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment such as autoclave, water purification system, cage washer, micropipettors
  • Take inventory and order supplies; record purchases and receipts
  • Inventory chemicals and maintain SDS database; assist with OSHA compliance
  • Maintain current CITI certification for work with animals (rats, mice) in a research setting
  • Assist faculty with research procedures involving animals
  • Provide laboratory animal care including feeding, housing, and weighing animals
  • Assist Director of Research with maintaining databases for reporting
  • Assist with manuscript and poster preparation and with monthly Research Council meetings
