Job summary

Temple Health – Temple University Health System is seeking a Laboratory Animal Technician to ensure humane care and welfare of research animals. The technician performs daily checks, administers treatments, maintains sick animal records, and notifies investigators and staff.

The role involves screening rodent colonies for murine pathogens, collecting samples for microbiology, serology, parasitology, and PCR, collecting tissues during necropsies, and offering technical assistance to laboratories

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year experience in biological sciences required.
• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science preferred.
• Experience with Filemaker Pro preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily checks and treatment of sick animals and maintain records.
• Screen rodent colonies for murine pathogens; collect samples for microbiology, serology, parasitology and PCR.
• Collect tissue samples during necropsies to determine disease cause.
• Provide technical assistance to research laboratories as requested.
