Job summary

Boston Scientific in Maple Grove, MN is seeking an R&D Sustaining Engineering Intern to optimize and sustain commercial IVUS products used in interventional cardiology. You will gain exposure to lifecycle management through design improvement and supply continuity objectives while collaborating with diverse teams.

This on-site internship runs May 17 to August 6 or May 24 to August 13, 2027, requires enrollment in Biomedical/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering, and eligibility to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Must graduate between Fall 2027 and Spring 2028.
• Currently pursuing a bachelors or graduate degree in Biomedical, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
• Must be able to commit to one of the following full internship program periods: May 17th – August 6th OR May 24th – August 13th
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the Maple Grove, MN (Arbor Lakes) Boston Scientific Corporate location
• Experience collaborating on an engineering project in school or in a professional environment

Responsibilities

• Design and Testing: Assist in design change activities to improve or maintain supply of commercial products including feasibility studies, test method development, and product testing.
• Problem-solving and Compliance: Support investigations into failure modes, perform root cause analyses, and develop solutions to address technical challenges. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and standards.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, marketing, design assurance, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs, to ensure successful project execution.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and review engineering documentation, including design change analysis, technical reports, design history files, and regulatory submissions. Present project updates and technical insights to engineers and managers.
